A Classical Criminal!

I joked about my "piano crimes" recently, but I have actually been in very real trouble with classical music 3 times before.

The first time I got in trouble was with the National Ballet of Canada.  I noticed one day by chance that their Facebook group was suddenly without an "admin" member...so I thought...how cool would it be to admin that group!  I clicked "become an admin" and took control of the National Ballet of Canada's Facebook group!

I don't understand or particularly like ballet, but I got messaged by the ballet's public relations person saying to "relinquish control" of the group or something funny like that.  Of course, I had to oblige!  But it turned out nicely...I was offered season tickets (which I unfortunately didn't accept since ballet's not my thing)!

Anyone see the Black Swan?  I need to be less criminal or evil Natalie Portman will come get me...AHHHH

The next was due to copyright allegations over burnt toast.  Not the kind you eat, but the comedic opera "Burnt Toast" by Canadian composer Alexina Louie.

I had illegally uploaded the opera to YouTube, which I recorded from my T.V...and CBC found me out!  Scary business...but it's brilliant stuff.  It's a bunch of short comedic operas where ordinary people all of sudden burst out into operatic outbursts of love...I guess people like me have a weird sense of humour? :P

And very recently (yesterday)...I got into trouble with one of my favourite young pianists!  I uploaded performances of the very talented Joyce Yang on YouTube...this time her press agent contacted me by e-mail.

He said that she was cringing at some of the performances...obviously, it was when she was only 19 and she made some mistakes, etc.  She asked me to remove a couple that she didn't particularly like.

...on the plus side, they were very happy to know that I'm such a big fan of hers...they told me that she's launching a real debut CD soon and that I might get a copy as a token of appreciation!  That would be totally awesome! :)  We'll see how that develops...

Each one salutes me as he goes,
And I my childish plumes
Lift, in bereaved acknowledgement
Of their unthinking drums.
